Jamie Ranney

Jamie Ranney is a dance artist practicing on the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), xwməθkwəy̓ əmv (Musqueam), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Jamie is a graduate of Modus Operandi, where she trained under the direction of Tiffany Tregarthen, David Raymond, and Kate Franklin. Jamie has been exploring her practice as an engagement with the natural world and is particularly interested in how social roles and identity influence relationship to environment. Jamie was resident artist with both The Croft in Northern Michigan and Koumaria in Sellasia, Greece, creating work through these platforms in 2023 and 2017 respectively. Other choreographic credits include the Vines Art Festival, Chalk It Up!, the London Dance Festival, and the Eaux Claires Music and Art Festival. Through Modus Operandi, Jamie has performed work for Justine Chambers, Alanna Kraaijeveld, Out Innerspace, Zahra Shahab, Yin Yue, Brandon Alley, and Spencer Theberge among others. Along with her dance practice, Jamie is pursuing a degree in conservation from the University of British Columbia, which she uses to create cross-disciplinary work focused on care, sustainability, and public activation. Jamie is thrilled to be working as an emerging artist with Dance Novella in their creation of Night is the Mother.
