STANCE

“Developed with the support of The Polygon Gallery and North Vancouver Recreation and Culture, Dance//Novella’s new work titled “STANCE” is a dynamic dance performance that explores the theme of social unrest and protesting through a blend of movement, music, and video. The work features eight incredible female-identifying dancers and aims to inspire audiences with messages of justice, equality, and human resilience. The creation process was a unique experience as everything was developed real time within the gallery space and was open for visitors to witness. During this time, D//N gratefully received guidance from Gilbert T. Small II - A brilliant dance artist, teacher, mentor and Current Gibney Company Director in NYC. The final sharing of this work took place on Feb 25, 2023 in the incredible Seaspan Pavilion. We are so very thankful for everyone who took part in this important and revitalizing creation. During a time when it feels like social unrest is reaching a critical state, we hope this work can spark conversations around important issues while providing a sense of hope and inspiration to those who are working towards a more just and equitable society.”
